    So it seems it is time to sell SRS and go long. That what the FED is telling us. Most of the REITs are paying dividends in the high teens so I expect the dividend is one of the costs to being short REITs.

    Oil companies should buy oil sands assets while they are so cheap especially COSWF and DVN. Oil and gas will go up faster than gold when the economy improves. You need oil for economic growth, you don't need gold.

    I don't understand what the McQueen is complaining about but the15% withholding is no problem because you can take it as a credit toward your U.S. taxes (unless it is a retirement account). No one has anything to complain about because they got a huge premium over what FDG was trading at prior to the offer and more than it is really worth.

    Cramer has done damage to everyone's portfolio thanks to his raise cash recommendations after the market has already tanked. If you follow his other recommendations like buying Russian stocks you realize he is right about half the time. He also conveniently forgets his bad picks and touts the ones that were right. But on the overall economic problems he's been right on.

  • Boone Pickens' BP Capital Funds Down Significantly
    The gloom and doom we are hearing is the worst I've heard for decades. Looking at my stocks, none have cut their dividends, several have raised them. Market gurus including Cramer are saying sell. People are taking their money out of money market funds and putting it under the mattress. It feels like a major technical bottom so I'll hold and put new money into stocks, especially beaten up REITs.

  • Here Go the Short ETFs
    Luckily I'm out of the short ETFs. This is supposed to be a free country. Not any way to treat investors many of whom are the little guys not the hedge funds. The practical result will be a diminished use of the short ETFs. How useful a hedging vehicle that you can't sell? However, I question whether the underlying stocks will be up significantly from here once the ban lifted.
