  • An In-Depth Look at Solar Stocks
You didn't mention an analysis on ENER. They have alot of promise. What may set ENER apart is how long the have been in business and the fact that they have multiple business opportunities in the clean tech space. I am interested in your opinion.

  • Which Solar Stocks Will Continue To Shine?
I have looked into all of the solar stocks, public and private. As for Nanoslar and Sunrgi, I believe they pose a significant challenge to the established players IF they can get substantial financing and if their products work like they advertise. Nanosolar's thin-film has a life of about 25 years and is only about 10-12% efficiency right now. Polysilicon panels last anywher from 25-40 yeasr and are 15-22% efficient and improving. Many have argued that poly panels are ugly, which I disagree with, but aesthetics will play a large role in who eventually wins. It is my opinion that all of the technologies will be used at least for a while. You have to keep in mind that solar energy market share is extremely small. There is definitely room for all of the good technologies. One thing I would like to address is thin-film is not a better technology in its present form. Just because thin-film panels are the new kid on the block, doesn't mean they will be widely implemented for some time. Polysilicon panels still control 80-85% of the market shares in solar and I see no reason for that to change until something so much better comes along that changes the game entirely. When that happens, none of these companies will survive in their present form. Think about all of the companies that had great stuff at the time who are no longer traded.

On Yahoo.com, the consensus for LDK's 2009 EPS is 3.76 and that is a conservative estimate. LDK and TSL both have very similiar EPS for next year and LDK has major ambitions to be the best. I have not seen anything to indicate that Trina will be any better down the road than STP. If I were to buy a panel maker for the long term, STP would be the one. On the American side, I would take a hard look at ENER and SPWR if SPWR comes down to the low $70's. LDK will be making a boatload of money in the near future and people will start piling in like no tomorrow. Just look at the fund interest in LDK now. They are quietly accumulating. An EPS of 3.76 and a PE of 25 puts LDK's stock price at $94.

Why no analysis of LDK? They are only one of the best prospects in the whole solar space! Jack, Have you even been following LDK and its extraordinary growth for the future? Com eon now. I would like you to give an honest assesment of LDK and explain why you always seem to leave them out.
