  • When Will the Housing Market Bottom?
Tons of houses here in Florida you can buy, move in ready, from $50K to $70K at the court house steps everyday and rent for $750 to $800/month. Problem is by the time you add real estate taxes, insurance & reserves there is very little takers.
Bottom in housing by the end of 2012.

  • How to Inspire More Panic in the Economic Crisis
We could use some of those realistic comments here is the US. Maybe people will wake up Instead of listening to the media pundits about timing the bottom just around the corner. Also, we need to start coming up with potential solutions. I say we apply the same socialistic policies the government uses when subsidizing big corn, big sugar, the milk industry & the energy giants and start subsidizing companies that are willing to manufacture products here in the US creating US jobs. Lets stop subsidizing banks.

  • What Happened to the American Dream?
So many people spending time & energy in telling us what we already know. We all need to put our heads together and start coming up with solutions to this mess. We need jobs soon!! Successful American companies that manufacture products overseas should be able to get tax breaks for bringing manufacturing here in the US. Maybe the Government instead of subsidizing big banks, they should start subsidizing American made products. Just like they subsidize, Big Sugar, Big Corn, the energy companies & the Milk industry. Companies that buy American made products, like Walmart, should be able to get special tax breaks.
Another change should be the way we selct our elected officials. Any elected official that takes money from special interest groups should be inmediatelly dismissed from their job.

  • Some Decent Christmas Eve Economic News
    Thanks for the Great News!
I feel much better now. It makes me want to start buying more junk I don't need since everything is back to normal and uncle Barack and his crew will fix the economy in no time.

    Keep drinking the Kool-aid.

Here is a dose of reality, true unemployment in FL is at 18%. Can they fix that in less that 5 years? I don't think so. By the end of the year 1/3 of the US households will have no credit since they' have been paying their Visas with their Master Cards, the reserves are dried out and unemployment is high. This administration will need to implement some sort of credit amnesty program SOON or 40% of the US will not be able to buy a N#2 pencil on credit. No buying, no economy, no recovery.
The new crew is adopting the old shock doctrine "OUR INFRASTRUCTURE IS COLLAPSING" we need to spend ONE BILLION fixing it. I heard that before with "WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION" This infrastructure spending largesse is going to be ripped right out of the Iraq reconstruction page. One Billion turns into 10 after a couple of big well connected companies getting huge no bid contracts generate some trickle down minimum wage jobs. Plus, where is the money coming from? We will have to pay it back some day. I got news from you, our infrastructure is not collapsing. We have some of the best infrastructure in the world. There is no silver bullet but if you keep your eyes open you will find some great opportunities.

  • Fear and Loathing in 2009
Great article but dead wrong on Sears SHLD
"It will emerge as the clear dominant player in all its markets"
I have one word for you "SUPER-WALMART&qu... Most of Sears locations are investor owned and these commercial loans are due for refinancing soon. Not going to happen. You can buy the same Junk at Walmart for less. Their appliance division is down substancialy. Their service went from AAA to atrocious. Sears at $38/share makes it a great target for shorting down to $5. Walmart at $55 makes more sense.

  • What Was Left Out of the Jobs Report
Wake up and smell the SH@#% America.
Yes they are lying to us, and they will continue to lie because the thieves in charge know that no one will do anything about it.
What we need is an old fashion revolution to take our country back.
I will be watching this depression from Costa Rica and will come back in 5 years to nibble on the carcass.
(I hear you can buy Hummers really cheap.)
    Keep drinking the Kool-aid.
    Stop complaining and start organizing

  • Consumers Shouldn't Be So Gloomy
True Unemployment is real and a lot higher than the fake numbers the government try to feed us. The same as Tue inflation.
You obviously have not gone grocery shopping.
I predict full recession by first quarter of 09.

    Keep drinking the Kool-aid.

Useless article, proof that you can't fix stupid.

  • Bernanke Seems Willing To Allow More Downturn Than Greenspan
I totally agree, an old fashion Revolution is the only solution.
Opps, I forgot a small detail, Didn't our government just took all our civil liberties away under the terrorism pretext?
I think marching in the streets would not be very safe unless you like getting detained and sent to Guantanamo. Plus the average idiot is too busy watching American Idol, he must rather complain than take action.
True unemployment at 12%, food priced have increased 60% in a year, Gas will hit $7/gallon by December. Most people cant afford to get sick even if insured, 60% of the homes purchased in FL in 2007 have negative equity and we are blowing 1 bil a week in Iraq.

If the above desn't inspire a revolution I dont know what will.
    You can't fix stupid.

I am loving my retirement in Cost Rica.
