I don't think the company should be spending valuable time and resources chasing the stock price in order to scare MMs and Hedge Funds. That's a tough fight to win, just ask Patrick Byrne.

  • Satellite Radio Investing Made Simple
You saw what the DOJ and FCC did to the stock for the past 17 months, now give Mel 17 months to see what he can do. From where I sit, the future has never looked brighter.

  • A Satellite Radio Giant's Surprising Small Audience
Great post statik! When did this "sputnik" come crashing down on us? First of all, since when has 18.5 million listeners been considered a small audience?.....By what standard?.....And why do you think sub numbers are a little thin?.......Gee, could it possibly be related to slumping auto sales and our economic crisis? I guess since auto sales are down substantially, that must mean consumers are simply not interested in vehicles anymore. Would you like to buy a clue Jeff? (It's the economy, stupid). And what about this concept Jeffy - do you think the long delay in merger approval may have exacerbated the problem SatRad is experiencing? You got any "in depth" analysis on that? Now get on outa here with your alleycat coat, wearing Hush Puppy shoes........cuz you're dismissed!!!

PS - Say "hi" to your inside source for me, ok?

  • FCC Commissioner Copps Votes "No" to Radio Merger: No Surprise
    tech,

You're kidding, right?? Obviously you missed the sarcasm in my message. Try turning the monitor upside down and read it again. Perhaps then you'll agree that I'm bunking in the same camp as you.

  • FCC Commissioner Copps Votes "No" to Radio Merger: No Surprise
    Alan,

Pandora might have an advantage over XM/SIRI for online listeners (i.e. it's free), but most people want mobile radio, meaning in the car and handheld radios.

  • FCC Commissioner Copps Votes "No" to Radio Merger: No Surprise
Thanks for your diligent service to our country, Commissioner Copps. We can all sleep easier now, knowing this great land of opportunity is much safer. You certainly have your finger on the pulse of the "real" threat to this nation - SDARS! Please extend my sincere appreciation to your staff as well, including but not limited to the NAB, C3SR, Georgetown Partners and the honorable Reverend Jesse Jackson.

    Peace be with you.

  • XM's Pre-Announced Q2 Results May Hold Merger Clues
Ya know, all this talk about concessions has been a complete criminal facade from the beginning. The FCC, NAB and Georgetown Partners have been pulling these "talking points" out of their collective backsides just to delay the merger in hopes that the two companies would either "die on the vine" or the competition could develop a marketing strategy to regain control. It reminds me of a scene from the movie, Diehard, where Hans Gruber makes his frivilous demands in exchange for release of the hostages. It was all just a decoy to a much more sinister plan. Here's how it went - " I have comrades in arms around the world languishing in prison.
The American State Department enjoys rattling its sabre for its own ends.
Now it can rattle it for me.
The following people are to be released from their captors.
In Northern Ireland, seven members of the New Provo Front.
In Canada, the five imprisoned leaders of Liberté de Quebec.
In Sri Lanka, the nine members of the Asian Dawn."

    Get my point?

  • XM-Sirius Merger Clears Major Hurdle
21st Century - Radio is free......terrestrial, that is. But if you want better content and commercial free music, you gotta give up a small amount of squibbage to partake. Pretty simple concept, but somehow several Congressmen and State's Attorneys wanna make it into something much more elaborate and complex.

  • XM-Sirius Merger Clears Major Hurdle
Free Satellite?? And how would they stay in business if they offer free radio? Maybe we should start with "free" cable tv and see how that works out. I think 13 dollars is pretty cheap for 180 stations of music, talk, traffic, weather, comedy and just about anything under the sun. Hell, people are willing to pay 5 dollars for a Mocha Frapaccino at Starbucks, or 5 dollars for a case of bottled water at the grocery store but won't squeeze out 43 cents a day for all that SatRad has to offer.
