Why Investors Should Be Interested in Shale Oil

I do suggest a moderate exposure to Shale oil and OIl Sands. I also suggest that any investor investigate thoroughly the enormous environmental problems that accrue with these two forms of hydrocarbon. When I say enormous, I don't mean that production might kill of horned owls. I mean that the production creates vast wastelands and the byproducts are toxic, long lasting, and huge. The amount of water required to produce oil from oil sands is about four barrels of water to one of oil.

We may end up using these fuels, they may end up being so environmentally degrading that long term use is just not possible. The environmental impact is HUGE.

Wells Fargo (WFC) will become the largest U.S. bank by branches with its bid for Wachovia (WB), after Citigroup (C) withdrew from compromise negotiations late yesterday on concerns about the quality of some of Wachovia's assets.
