Q109? Q2? When the Market Will Recover
Cam, your analysis points to a recovery early in 2009, and you also state hedge funds are in cash for the rest of 2008. This would mean hedge funds might start buying before the next bottom? Can you explain your expected timing of hedge funds vs. the bottom?

Money Market Cash Levels: Signals of a Market Bottom?
If you Google this string of words

money market assets percentage of fund assets

you'll find articles that indicate there are $3.46 trillion in mutual funds and $1.26 trillion in money market funds. The ratio is 36.4%.

Someone may want to comment on whether the money market funds are included in the mutual fund assets or not in either the above graph or in the articles found.

New Technology Makes Natural Gas a Viable Replacement for Oil
Chuck, the OEMs have made NG vehicles for years. They were sold into fleets that had their own high pressure CNG refuelling stations - consumers did not have access to CNG for vehicles at the time. We don't need to push the OEMs, it's mature technology. We need to push the infrastructure to set up stations around town (not everyone will want to refuel at the garage, and you have more range when you can refuel on the highway.)

Paulson and Bernanke: A Conspiracy of Dunces
When you have all the inside information that Paulson and Bernanke do, then maybe you'll be smart (but maybe not wise) enough to say whether they are dunces. Until then, we all have to wait for the protest in Congress to stick flowers in the end of the bazooka.

Greenspan was touted as the money maistro for years... until lately. Maybe the current effort will also get a reversal of opinion and they'll be heroes. You don't know.

Chrysler Considers Sale of Gas-Guzzling Dodge Viper
I've owned a Viper for 12 years, 90,000 miles, and get 22 MPG highway. At 65 MPH and 6th gear, then engine is only 1300 RPM. Sure, "spirited" driving is worse, but then it's not simply transportation, the ride itself is my fun. I happily pay a few dollars more per trip to arrive at work with a smile.

Compressed Natural Gas: Key to American Energy Independence?
Don't underestimate the value of having the OEMs produce NG vehicles in the past. That means all the safety, emissions, packaging, hardware and durability issues have been addressed. The vehicles were sold to fleets that had their own refueling facilities. Being able to purchase NG at the corner station is really the only thing left to make the concept acceptable to the public - look how many turned away from diesel vehicles because they could only purchase diesel fuel at a truck stop.

This is the perfect example for the government to step in a front the costs of adding NG to every gas station. With the lower cost, people will buy it, since there is really no downside consumers will see.
